I'll take my SV8 over my old X308 anyday.Theres no comparison. After I lost my XJ-40, the x308 seemed like they were in a rush to release a new car and threw something together incomplete, which never excited me. It just seemed like every other car. It did not bring any of the coments that my other Jags brought from bystanders from all ages. Its sort of like wives, my best were the first and the last ones I've had..
I'm 27 and received my XJR at 25. Never had as many comments on a car that I have driven from people of all demographics.

Well I've had an XJ40, an X300, and I have two XJ308's now - but I also have the most beautiful car in the World ...... an XK8 Coupe. Put it on your Xmas list.
LOL, I have gotten a kick out of reading all the posts in this thread!
Ever since I bought my XJ8L, I have noticed that most of the X350's I see on the road are piloted by older women. My wife has noticed this too. Most of my friends busted by chops over the purchase, as I was into the sport compact/tuner scene in my younger years. Priorities change as you get older though, and so do driving habits(at least for me). I needed a larger car, and was shocked that I could buy a used Jaguar for less than the domestic sedans I was looking at. Yes it was almost 10 years old(at the time, now it IS 10 years old), but it had a lot of options that weren't available in the cars I was looking at. It had always been a dream of mine to own a Jaguar, so it was an easy decision.
I will be 38 in a few days, so I guess I am in the middle of the age range. I used to be a bit of a lead foot, but now I drive much more conservatively. The crazy thing is, when I drive my XJ8L, I am content to just sit back, relax, and cruise. The car has a calming effect on me. If it means I am getting old... so be it!
Yeah - I know what you mean .... just sit back and cruise. I was doing just that when I got pulled up. It was all ok until the police officer noticed his blue light matched my ...... dress! It just seemed to go downhill from there ....... !! (And how the hell do you run in high heels?)
Well, I'm soon to be 71,and my wife is a month behind me, so I guess We are the old people who drive our 350. This is our first Jaguar. The wife loves it and so do I. Once we get all the over due maint. done I hope we have it for quite a while.
I hope no one ever tells my wife that she is driving a "Old Woman's car" because she will show them how an Old Woman drives an XJ8, with the S button on. Most of our early cars were 4 spd. and she loved shifting them.
I am a natural redheaded lady who began owning my’05 VDP in 2013 at age 55.
Several months after owning my '05 VDP I convinced my husband who was 53 to buy a ’06 VDP also. That ’06 has been taken out of commission due to an accident so we just added a ’07 VDP.
Our 22 son, an Emmy Award winning film maker/writer/producer was injured when his ’95 BMW 525 was T-boned. He opted for the space, comfort, value and prestige of a ’04 XJ8. He has already used it in films; and when he pulls onto the movie lot or production studio he fits in with the other European cars. A rapper performer friend told him he has the best job and the most “fi’ whip” (translated – fire whip or hot car) of anyone he knows.
These cars were all purchased by those who could afford the original sticker. Most of these people buy new cars every several years. The depreciation allows us second and third owners a chance to guardian the beautiful machines too. Most people never look to see if an XJ8 is available to them; it’s a super spirited V-8 sedan whose speedometer is marked to 170 miles per hour, with luxury and comfort that doesn’t compare.

Fun conversation - nice to get away from the usual suspension fault posts.
My first time behind the wheel of a Jaguar was a carnival red X308 I rented from Hertz at the LA airport for $75. I remember sitting in the cockpit for 10 minutes admiring the gorgeous machine mine for a day before I had the courage to pull it off the lot.
I loved the windscreen that came down at steep angle making for a short dash. It felt race-car-ish to have the windshield so close to my nose. Also loved the acre of hood between me and the road, and the long flat trunklid viewable when I reversed looking out the rear window. It was SWB but the car felt long.
With most cars today you can't see the hood whereas the viewable X308 and X350 hoods give you the sensation of length. This was common in most 70s and 80s cars then disappeared about 20 years ago.
Love my X350 but wish it had the sharp windscreen like the X308. I'm sure it's all about aerodynamics and MPG.
I know what he means but there is a difference between a 15 years old X308 lady and going to the local Grab a Granny night at the local dance hall where even copious amounts of beer will have no effect on one's eyesight.
Just been out for a 20 minute drive in mine (lesson cancelled last minute). Made up for the £52 I lost in lesson fee. Actually managed to take some photos so posting them on here later.
