Default One month old and Hood is trashed.

Just wanted to share my misery. I have had my car one month and last weekend someone backed into my 2007 XJ8 catching the edge of the hood on the passenger side and buckling it up about 3 inches above the fender. It happened at a local restaurant at night and of course there was no note. I take her into the body shop tomorrow. I will let everyone know how it turns out. My biggest concern is matching the beautiful indigo blue finish. At least it was just the hood.

A sad tale indeed. Not enough folks take responsibility anymore.

As aggravating as it is, a competent body shop will have no issue matching the paint. I had a '00 BMW 740il in Indigo Blue and someone keyed the entire right side nice and deep. Shop blended it so perfectly no one could ever tell it had been repaired. The emotional scar lasted longer...

If they only smashed the hood, it was probably a raised pickup or SUV.

No security camera and yes, I believe it was either a pickup or SUV since the bumper was high enough to miss the head lights.

Well, I finally have my car back. What looked like only the hood to me turned out to be a new hood, passenger fender, and headlight assembly by the time insurance was through with it. The paint looks to be perfectly matched and the fit seems good. Total repair bill for a dinner out with the family was over 4k. I think I will take some flashing cones with me next time. ;-)

Sorry to hear about that, but good news on the repair. I would like it to be known that I was no where in the area at the time of the incident.

Glad it looks good and insurance stepped up to do the job properly.
