Opinion on 2006 XJR

Considering buying a Jag Pre-owned certified select 2006 XJR. Warranty would go through about March 2012. Car has a little more than 45k miles on it, with a clean car fax (although I do not see regular interval maintenance at deal entries on the car fax). Car seems to be in beautiful cosmetic and mechanical condition (I would assume it would be if its Jag certified select, but who knows). Purchase would be direct from a Jag dealer. The price is $34k and don't think its going any lower at this point. Car has navigation. Has the rear seat DVDs. I believe the 2006's have the improved acoustic glass to diminish road noise, etc. Seem like a fair deal? Would appreciate any opinions at folks' earliest convenience.
Kind regards,
Brian

How long will it take you to get to 100,000 miles?
Considering the model you are buying, and the unknown maintenance history, I would consider investing in the additional 2 years of extended warranty coverage if your annual mileage would keep you under the 100K limit until 2014.
You could probably add on the additional 2 years and get the car for about $38K. The normal price is around $3500 for the extra 2 year coverage.
And don't rely on the "certified" labeling to much. Every dealer seems to have a different interpretation of the inspection process.
Look at my post in this thread about stuff to look for and get fixed prior to buying. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=21481
Good luck with the deal.

Warranty ends at 100K regardless of how many months you have left. It would be pointless to buy two more years if you drove more than about 14K miles a year.
In my case I bought the extra two years because the car had only 22K miles on it and it was not likely I would get to 100K in 4 years.
No particular concerns about the supercharger that I know of. I have a VDP so maybe someone else can comment on how long they last.

Just recently got an '06 XJR myself. From an independent dealer in N. Carolina (I'm in Hawaii). Mine is in near mint condition with just over 50,000 miles. Only had 2 minor problems(wire in the airbag harness under the seat, and 2 O2 sensors needed to be replaced) to fix when I picked it up. If yours is anywhere near the condition of mine (check my profile for pics) you won't be disappointed my friend. Enjoy!

Had asked for opinions on a 2006 certified preowned XJR and received some helpful posts from members. I appreciated the input. Thanks. Bought the car. Gotta say -- I love it. Not a test track enthusiast or anything like that -- just a guy who likes a nice car that can occasionally bust off the line and handle confidently at speed. For my purposes, a truly great car. Here's hoping for reasonable reliability!
