XJR Engine cover for SV8?

XJR Engine cover for SV8?
My 06 SV8 came without an engine cover and the selling car lot is not answering my questions about whether they removed it to change the Super Charger gaskets.
I see a 2004-2005 XJR enigne cover on ebay for $95. Is that a reasonable price and would it fit a 2006 Super V8?

Thanks, any idea on the $95 price or whether these come up very often?
There are virtually no yards with XJ8s around me locally - closest might be Little Rock or Tulsa a couple of hours away.
I think I was told in another thread that they are $115 plus shipping new - sound right?

I bought a new one last year, paid a bit more than that. So sounds about right.
My old one is hanging on the wall in my garage, has scuff marks on it from a drooping bonnet liner, you could have it for a six pack of beer but the shipping costs might be a bit on the high side...
Oh btw the S-Type R has the same engine cover as the XJR and Super V8

Hi Phil,
It was I who quoted the $115 price on new covers. You can check the sources I posted in the other thread yourself to confirm:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...5/#post1299553
If you haven't already done so, you can download the Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) for free from this forum, and install it on your computer. You can then look up part numbers and compare the part numbers for different Jaguar models. See this thread for instructions:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...uctions-48194/
You can also look up Jaguar part numbers at the Jag dealers who sell parts online like jaguarmerriamparts.com and gaudinjaguarparts.com, but it's a little more tedious. It's easier if you already have the part number and just search it at one of those sites for pricing and availability. It is surprising how often you can get a new OE Jaguar part for not much more than, and sometimes even less than, the eBay asking prices for used parts.
Cheers,
Don

I found terrysjag also carries it: Merriam had the lowest shipping of the three so lowest total by a few bucks. I offered the Ebay lister $75 - I'll see if they take it. Other wise I'll order the new one.
Thanks for the EPC advice. I am downloading it as I type or at least I think I am. I did the 64 bit version of Winrar first but chose "open in Winrar" for the file and the little download scale still says 1 hour. Oops, just went to 44 minutes and then 2 hours then 1 hour - I think it is confused, but I'll let it continue.

So these covers just press on over the studs on the engine? The rear studs on my engine have thin black plastic collars on the ends while the forward studs are bare. Should they all have the plastic collars on them?
I offered $75 and the seller came back with $85. I countered that Terrysjag has new ones for $111.15 so I thought $75 was reasonable for a used one. I think one sold listing had a buy it now for $60 OBO and had taken a lower offer, but it had a broken tab.

Hi Phil,
I'm a big fan and supporter of the independent Jaguar parts specialists, but they generally have to get parts like the engine cover directly from Jaguar because the parts aren't available from the OEMs or aftermarket sources. The indies probably get a small discount from Jaguar, but by the time they add a markup their prices are typically a little higher than you can get by ordering through one of the online Jaguar dealers who sell at discount prices.
jackra_1's comment about the 4 rubber grommets that mount the cover reminded me that I tried to find a part number to order those from Jaguar and haven't found one so far - it appears they are only available with the cover itself. My cover is missing two of the grommets. If anyone has tracked down a part number I'd love to know.
Cheers,
Don

I did get a used boot floor/spare tire cover this week end; my son-in-law brought it up from an Irving Tx breaker yard when they came for a memorial day family gathering and river float. The oval hold-down pieces were broken out, but my car had two good ones and the carpet side cleaned up well and even looks better than the rest of the boot lining which hasn't had the carpet cleaning treatment yet (too many mosquitoes out there to be bending over the boot for a long time).
BTW, I haven't yet gotten Winrar (which seems to have installed correctly) to extract the parts list. I've downloaded the file several times and tried extracting it several times and each time Winrar tells me it reached an unexpected end to the file or it is a corrupted file. Might be my ISP working too slowly and not getting the whole download.

Yes, jaguarmerriamparts.com is the Jaguar dealer in Merriam, Kansas, and gaudinjaguarparts.com is the Jaguar dealer in Las Vegas, Nevada. There may be others, but I know those two sell OE Jaguar parts online at prices below Jaguar list.
Reputable independent Jaguar parts specialists in the U.S. include Coventry West, SNG Barratt and Jagbits (all of whom offer discounts to Jaguar Forums members), as well as Welsh Enterprises, Terry's Jags, Motorcars Ltd., and Moss Motors (for classic Jaguar models). I'm sure I've forgotten someone's favorite and they'll chime in.
Over the years I've purchased most of my parts from Coventry West (they're just 1 day away from me via UPS), and they've always been kind enough to tell me when a part has to be ordered from Jaguar in case I want to see if I can get a better price and/or faster delivery by dealing directly with a Jaguar dealer. In general, CW can beat my local Jag dealer's prices, but they usually can't beat the Merriam or Gaudin online prices.
Regarding the challenges unzipping the EPC files, I had to try several times too. Read some of the posts in the thread about overcoming problems, especially from Jim Lombardi, who has done a lot of work to provide helpful instructions.
Cheers,
Don

By "online Jaguar dealers" did you mean jaguarmerriamparts.com and gaudinjaguarparts.com? VS Terrysjag as an independent? I didn't hear back from the ebay seller after I said I thought $75 was a fair price for used one based on the prices for brand new. I can wait awhile as we don't spend much time idling or stop and go.
