Before I go to the dealer and cough up the $222 to have somebody plug in a computer, press a couple of buttons and walk away, is there anyone in the Orlando / Kissimmee area that is willing and able to TCM reflash and clear the adaptations on a 2004 XJ8 for a more reasonable price?

I am doing this out of desperation, I just pulled my car out of a transmission shop whose estimate started at $3,000 before he had my car and suddenly went to $4,500 after my car was at his shop before he looked at it.

I'm having the typical problems, hard 1-2 shift, hard downshift at speed, sometimes a slight 2-1 bump.

Also, any recommendations of a transmission shop in the area you would trust that is reasonable. I'm not in a good place financially right now and can't just start tossing $4k around.

If you have, as I think, a ZF 6HP26 then there's a lot more involved and 2 people are needed during the drive they need to do.

Not sure it's worth $222 but it's not what you say.

 

My bad, that is what the Jag service guy made it sound like. He told me to set aside 2 hours in case the computer crashed but normally it doesn't take long at all.

 

Look up Alljags in Orlando. They can do it but don't know the price.
