The overhead console of my 2007 XJ8 VP will not accerpt my garage door opener input according to instructions. I believe either worn pushbutton switch contacts or its module is the culprit. Does one have to replace the entire panel or can the switch or the garage door module be ordered and replaced individually?
I had same problem with mine 2004.
the garage door industry changed transmitters to, what they call "rolling code" I am sure experts will correct me in terminology.
Chamberlaine makes radio frequency "adapter":
I installed it in Garage now Koshka can open doors for itself.
I did not have to change anything for other two cars that have rights to enter garage. Both systems works together.
Maybe jags in their latest model have updated "my home link to latest"

I’ve got a 2006 S type R and I also have a new garage door opener (liftmaster) that uses the rolling codes and my garage door opener in the Jag works just fine. I do remember that there is a kind of a tricky process for getting it to take the code. there’s a two-step process you have to follow it from the start to the finish and you can’t just start at the programming the car using the remote because that didn’t work. I had to start from programming the remote to the garage door opener and then program the garage door opener to the car And my S type R which is a 2006 has a replaceable home link garage door module in the overhead Console so I bet yours is very similar. Once you take the overhead Console out you’ll see the module is separate from the rest of the mechanisms. I’ll show a picture of mine.
