As some of you know I have had some paintwork done at the beginning of the months, two doors and the rear arch fuel cap area.
Unfortunately, it was not up to standard, poor colour match, a drip, hairs in paint and strange dents on the panel were present.
Before:








I went back to the paint shop, it was suggested that the what was need was to blend with the front archway to match the colour.
After support & encouragement from mainly Arrowlink, BuckMR2 and DJDex and others, I went back insisted that it was redone at their cost:









Much better now, oddly the front arch is a bit darker this time?

Your thoughts?

Rediculous I know but it is a fact!

Question is: does the paintshop know this?

I went to a Jag dealer in Canterbury and had a spectrometer put on it FOC.

That's the only time I use main dealers ie when it's FOC. LOL

Mine is BL shade.

Paint is made in Germany by Standox; they are on the internet.

 

Thanks meirion1, I knew that there are different variation for each batch. I didn't know that a jag dealer could identify them.

It's a vast improvement and looks superb.

The problem is, after being dissatisfied with the first attempt, you are going to be super-critical of subsequent remedial work.

Any panel refinish with a metallic is difficult. Getting the shade exact is hard enough but laying the fleck in exactly the same way as OE factory finish is almost impossible. The only way to blend completely successfully is the do the full side.

Thanks for the complement, you are right about metallic being hard to match, I belive silver is one of the hardest to match.
