Question Park windshield wipers in vertical position?

Hi,
it's been freezing weather down here in Texas and one thing I always do then is to move the windshield wipers away from the windshield so that they won't stick. But with my '07 XJ8, I can't seem to make them stop in the vertical position - they always go down to the parked position - even if I turn off the ignition at the right moment. And since they can't be moved away from the windshield in the parked position, I'm "stuck" :-(

Is there a way to make them stop in the vertical position?

Rgds,
Mike

I've often wondered this. Ironically, the wipers often stop in the middle of the windshield when I don't want them to (intermittent mode).

Stick a couple pieces of waxed paper (or aluminum foil) between the wipers and windshield.

I assume that would stop the wiper blades from sticking to the windshield - will most likely not work if there's sleet/snow though... I've used CD cases to keep the wipers of the windshield (angled so they are not laying flat against the windshield - wouldn't work then ;-).

Oh, sorry, I thought you were trying to get them in the up position to change the wiper blades. Does anyone have any idea how to do that?

Well, the original question was how to stop them in the vertical position so that I can angle them out away from the windshield so that when it's freezing weather with sleet/snow, they will not freeze and stick to the windshield...

twotone just came with an alternative solution - in the same way I've done it...

The original question hasn't been answered - and it might not be possible to have them stop in the vertical position...
