Default Parking sensor problems

This is my first post so apologies if I make any faux pas.

I've owned my X350 XJ6 for a month now and the parking sensors have never worked.

I only have rear sensors and get the 3.5 second error tone when engaging reverse.

The indy I've been to said the module was dead and got me a replacement from eurojag. He then told me three sensors were dead. No problem I thought.

Anyway, I've subsequently been doing my homework and decided to test the sensors myself before shelling out on new ones. I've done this by selecting reverse in position 2 and listening for clicks. No clicking from any sensor.

So, my first question is, is it possible for one of the sensors be working if none of them are clicking? Secondly, is this clicking audible without a stethoscope like my dad's X308 which was actually quite loud.

My final question is, if it's not the sensors, (which must be unlikely if all of them are not working) and the module has been replaced, what else could it be? Is the wiring a bit dodgy on these?

The earth from the module is perfect incidentally.

TIA.

I had this problem a few years ago now and never had any clicking or codes.

It's not the speaker because you get the beeps, you have one or more sensors U/S.

I suggest you dismantle the rear bumper to give access to the sensors.

With revese selected and ign in pos. 2 replace each sensor in turn until the system works.

I replaced two sensors before it worked as it should.

Be careful changing sensors, the plastic clip is delicate.

When I did this I did not realise that the sensors should work in position 2 and did my rears

with the engine running, g'box in reverse and the handbrake on!! LOL

I had a continous beep with two failed so maybe you have only one failed.

Sensors are the weak link in the system.

Let us know how you get on.

I am having the same issue and was given a hefty quote mostly for the labor of dismantling the rear bumper. One of the rear parking sensors is shot and it occasionally beeps when backing out of a tight space. But that's an annoyance I can live with.
