Plug and play OBD2 ecu tuning?
I know it’s been asked a few times as I’ve searched but most of those posts are nearly a decade old.
I’m looking for a simple ecu flash style tuning solution that I can either use to flash ots maps or tune parameters openly.
has anybody come up with a handheld flashing solution or do the ecus still need to be bench tuned?
I have been developing performance parts for the X350/X358 platform for a little bit now and having the ability to change maf scaling and the like for larger maf housings and adjustments to fueling and injector values to run larger injectors for E85 would be amazing.
Anything that can talk to the transmission would be great too.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a company or individual who can help me out or provide the service?
I come from a heavy modding and racing background and my last car, a 440hp Subaru wrx was tuned on open source software called ecu edit/ecu flash.
something similar would be awesome if some form of handheld flashing device isn’t available.

Wish I could help you, I had mine bench flashed by Paramount Performance in UK. We did try using the V-Switch first to upload the tune through the OBD2, but its not compatible with the 04 and 05's. If I am not mistaken, it only works for 06 and up.
Alex from the X150 side of the forums tunes ECUs. We have talked about tuning the 04 and 05's but we suspect he will also have to do the bench flash. We have not tried it yet. I was eager to take the hit and test it but my car has been down for 2 months for some maintenance and upgrades.
There are other ways to do it using Jaguar software but from the little I understood, it is complicated and risky (your car could end up as a giant paperweight if not done right and proper equipment is not used). There are very few that know how to do this and I don't think this service is offered in USA anymore either.

Simple answer is no. If you can get a hold of an ABACO MAF you can adjust the transfer function with one. I was running one with larger 550cc injectors awhile back.
One of the reasons you tend to not see much going on with these cars is due to the difficulty in tuning it. Many that even bench tuned them years back stopped. Noone in the states. Alex however is willing to give it a go. Be nice if someone n his neck of the woods had an xjr he could play with. I have my twin screw sitting on a shelf because Im not happy with the tunability or lack thereof for this car. e85 with that twin screw would scream.
