Default Possible Tranny vibration

When almost coming to a complete stop there is about a one second vibration that seems to come as the transmission is down shifting from second to first. It's a slight vibration,my wife can't feel it and if I put the trans in neutral when coming to a stop it does not do it so I think we can rule out the brakes. The trans up shifts just fine, nice and smooth. 79000 miles on the clock.

The plot thickens or should I say spot thickens. I found a dark black spot in the driveway where the jag sits if it is not in the garage. The spot was the color of old black used diesel motor oil but did not come up on a rag when I wiped it. I can't see any residue on the shields under the car and no spots on the garage floor. I noticed the vibration after I found the spot.

Any thoughts?

If it was me, I'd get it up on a ramp for an underside inspection. After your sort of miles, the tranny can leak where the electric socket connection is located. There is a seal there than hardens up and leaks. A tranny software re-flash might not come amiss. This is about 1/2-1 hour work for a shop with Jaguar WDS.

If you can get UNDER the car - look at the trans pan. It may be a very mild leak. Baby powder helps sometimes. It sticks to the oily residue. If you want to throw the car on a lift, PM me.

Take care,

George

George,
I noticed that during that short warm spot we got it didn't make the vibration but it did come back as it got cold again. I keep it in the garage and check the floor for spots, none found. I wonder if the fairings are trapping any drips. I tried looking under the car but you know how low these cars are and I am not a small guy, I can't even spell gym, let alone go to one. I had my indie shop check during last oil change but I'm not sure they know where to look. I may take you up on that lift, thanks.

Barry
