Okay I have been doing some searching re usage of Mobil 424 as a power steering fluid Mobilfluid 424
in my wife's Jeep GC

I have already changed the fluid in the X350 using Amsoil universal ATF fluid as that seems to be the norm

After doing some research certain Australian fords use the Mobil 424 as power steering fluid in their power rack and pinion steering

Reason I am asking
When I used online oil usage indicator for the transfer case of the wife's
Jeep it said to use ATF fluid after 80,000 k,s the transfer case is stuffed the fluid came out looking like it had snow in it and the smell was indescribable
After doing a lot of research on the 424 it says can be used as power steering fluid as well so I will be using it on the recon transfer case and power steering of the Jeep we figured out that the ATF fluid in the transfer case is wrong

Now when I bought my jaguar I also used these oil recommendation sites for fluids and used Amsoil universal ATF for the power steering diff and so forth

I went with my own likes for the diff and engine but used Amsoil universal ATF for the power steering I notice when I turn the wheel to lock it jumps a bit and feels average the power steering in my XJR6 felt better

Now I did some research which said a lot of the guys here in Australia with modern fords with power rack and pinion use the Mobil 424 as power steering fluid and that the recommendation is not to use ATF of any grade for the power steering

So I thought I would ask the jaguar forum brains trust as learning the expensive way with the Jeep I am worried that the ATF fluid might be wrong for the jaguar power steering

I did read that some guys had problems using the mobil 424 that the steering was slow till the car warmed up but they where in very cold climates I live in a sub tropical climate so don't think I would have a problem with it

Any ideas?

I use Mobil 1 ATF for the power steering. When I got the car years ago, the steering had a shudder in it. By draining the reservoir and refilling with Mobil 1 a few times, the catch was permanently cured.

Same here...I top up with clear power steering fluid until the first time I have to work a car. After that I replace with Mobile One ATF and use it exclusively. So, I don't like to mix the ATF fluid with the factory stuff,but I always go ATF when starting fresh.

Was that Mobil 1 engine oil or Mobil 1 ATF fluid you refilled it with
