Hi Everyone,

Today, I bought a 2004 XJ8 with 54k miles in British Racing Green with Sand Interior. It is absolutely beautiful! I was able to get a 3-year 45k warranty with it as well.

I went through this entire forum before purchasing. So, I wanted to thank everyone who has posted in the past and I look forward to learning a lot going forward.

Thanks,

Eric

Eric, congrats!
We put 100k miles on our 2004 XJ8L without a single bit of unscheduled maintenance (in Colorado, with temps ranging from -15F to 100+F).

It was, without question, the most comfortable, classy, luxurious car we've ever owned. And damned quick, despite its size, the aluminum body keeps weight down and it performed remarkably well for a car that size.

Enjoy!

Lovely looking car, same colour as mine which I think is actually called Jaguar Racing Green, as the original BRG (from the 50s Le Man cars, no less !!), was not a metallic colour.

Mine is a V6 Sport with Ivory leather, so no chrome grill, or chrome round the side windows.

Nice ride. Low miles. Should provide you with years of wonderful driving. I have 118k miles on my '04 VDP and I love it.

Thanks Everyone,

I picked it up yesterday, but had to go away for work this week. My brother has been putting some miles on it though...

Here's a link to the pictures from the dealer's website:

I'll be sure to take some more when I get home.

Gorgeous car, looks to be in fantastic shape. Interesting to see the Jaguar logo, a factory decal by the looks of it, on the wood trim on the passenger's side. Believe this only came with VDP and above in later model years. Mine doesn't have it. Also see your valet button is in the center console. In my '07 it's next to the fuel door button where the fog light buttons are, which means when I'm at the pump more often than not I hit Valet instead of Fuel Door, throwing the car into Valet mode.

But let's face it, I could have worse problems in life than putting my Jaguar into valet mode ...

Yes BRG is a beautiful colour, my friend has one.

When I had the first fault on my x350 (and I have only had two faults in five years) I knew what the problem was because of reading this and the UK forum.

Information is power and can save you a packet.

BTW-take it off your brother!

Default What a car

Welcome and I can say you will only love the car even more as you drive it. What a great sled for long trips. I purchased a 2005 XJ8L brand new at a cost of $69k back then. Zircon blue. Here I am in 2012 - 7 years later - and I am pleased with the car. Light, quick, fancy, classy. I've only had one mechanical issue - an air-ride shock failed. Dealer quoted $2400 to fix. I purchased a remanufactured one online for $600. Dealer agreed to install it for 2 hours labor.

The worst is the depreciation. My car would fetch only about $17k if I sold her. But I will keep her and hope I have no major mechanical issues over the next 50k miles. As one post referred - welcome to the slippery slope. indeed a reference to their notorious mechanical issues....but I've been lucky my first 50k miles. I just joined this forum a few weeks ago.

Congrads on your new Jag Eric.

I love mine for all the reasons others have given but the most for the ride, drives like no others.

I have a good friend that is also a car nut but thought I was nuts for buying the Jag, he has taken a couple of trips with me and now I think he is a convert.

Maybe we will meet up on the road some day.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the welcome. I got home late last night and was able to pick it up from my brother on my way home. I took some more pictures of her sitting in my driveway. I love this thing!

Eric
