Default pssst

Hi, I have a 2006 Jaguar VDP with less than 50,000 miles. I have noticed recently a frequent psssst sound coming from the left front corner of the car similar to the release of a short blast of air.
The car drives fine, but the Jaguar Select Warranty ends soon. Is this something to be concerned about and need to get attended to prior to the warranty expiry.

Be afraid, very very afraid! Your LHS air suspension shock is packingup! Soon, you'll experience a harsher ride with the car permanently driving at low settings! Get your warrantee to sort itbout before it runs out!

I don't know, mine has always done that. I thought it had something to do with either the compressor located on the LH front side of the car or the air bags releasing pressure. If that is incorrect, I would like to know too.

Also I was advised by the Jag dealer Select Edition does not cover the air suspension.

Mine has always done it too, was told it was the system purging the water trap.

Although I'm no expert, I'd like to make a couple of points. 1. I believe you are very close to age & mileage for air shock failure. 2. If its doing it after you exit the car, that's likely just the suspension lowering or purging the water, which is what it's supposed to do. If its a continual hiss, you likely have a blown air shock & will soon also burn up the onboard air compressor, but that doesn't sound like the case.

hello and thanks, no it is not a continual hiss and only noticed lately when the window down in real hot humid weather. Going to start the car and hang out with it idling in my driveway for a bit to see if it is frequent or not.
Trying to decide whether to get rid of the car or not, it is too bad such expensive repairs on a car which has been babied with less than 50,000 miles. Dealer just put in new rack and pinion under warranty and i had new front brakes and the bill was worth $6500.00. I just discovered the control arm bushings are shot and now possible air suspension problem.

I suspect what you are hearing is normal, but do not hesitate to get it checked out.

FWIW these are actually very reliable cars with only a few known "issues" considering the less reliable competition from Mercedes & BMW.

You have a warranty for a reason so use it and then enjoy the car as it is "worth" more than you would probably receive in a trade. Bushings & compressors are common failed components and should be covered by Select Edition.
