You can't over fill? Not sure what your worried about here? Fill it all the way and see how the air bleeds out.
The car will burp the air out after several heat/cool cycles. Make sure to NOT over heat the car because it will have air bubbles in the beginning.
So keep an eye on the temp gauge.
One other tip; It's a very poor practice to replace one hose on an old car like yours. They all need replacing and you will keep getting leaks until they are all replaced. Since you need to take things apart anyway for this repair combine the job with the additional hoses for a one and done repair.
Can you DIY the work? Really should swap the entire coolant out too. It needs it.
