Greetings. Picked up the most pristine 2003 XJ 8, barn find. Mechanics are going through it to make sure there's no surprises. Only 39K miles on the Odo, but you never know. It is getting a new headliner. I've been reading stories on a Timing Chain Tensioner problem, but it appears that 2003 isn't mentioned. Trying to get a build sheet on this. The Customer Service folks are non respondent. The VIN tells me that it's a Sovereign- makes sense. Having a whale of a time getting Home Link to work. Wondering what the life expectancy is on the Suspension. Wanting to upgrade the Audio System to something with a screen.... Fun stuff like that. It drives very well and looks almost new, in and out.

 

Hi I got an x350 2003 xj8 as well 298hp 4,2 no problem at all with the engine.

4,0 v8 is x308 but the later x308 do generally not have problems anymore since they got an update
