2004 VDP, I got the lower seat out no problem. Pulled down on the straps to remove the backs. Left side released but right side won"t release. I can feel and hear it move but seat won't tilt forward. Can you get to the backs through the trunk? Anyone have and solved this problem?

 

Seat backs are out. Whoever was in there last did not reinstall the seat back properly. The seat bottom pivots on 4 C shaped hooks. The outside right was not fully seated into it's C hook. This raised the seat to high so the top device would not release. I had to remove two nuts that held a metal fixture that had the two C hooks on it among other things. Had to use a pry bar to pry that fixture off the two studs that it mounts to. The seat now dropped enough to release.
