Default 'Service Required' Resetting. XJ X350 2.7

HI All,

Thought I'd joined this some time ago but just set up again. Jag enthusiast with a 2 x 1969 2.8 manual XJ seris 1 (in lots of bits) , 1990 XJ Series three V12 (in less bits) and a Rebuilt right off 2008 XJ 2.7TDI. Did have a 4.0 V8 1999 X308 when I lived in the states - only regret not getting a late 90s XJR!

I bought my current XJ right off about two years ago. After straightening it out I've always serviced it every 10,000 miles. I got it with 20k on (after Jag put a new engine in it under warranty) and I'm now up to 50k. Ordered all the bits but can't find out how to reset the 'service required' prompt. I found a few things on here for other models and tried those to no avail.

Hopefully I'll get a few pics put on here of my jags as it's really nice to see other people's and find like-minded enthusiast.

Hi there, Please try this and advise how you get on........

Reset oil service light Jaguar XJ. How to reset maintenance light, reset service light indicator. Can be made manually by use button on car dash board.
How do you reset oil service light Jaguar XJ with diesel engine. From year: 2008.
  1. Press and hold reset button then turn ignition on.
  2. Release reset.
  3. Press and hold trip button.
  4. When holding trip button, press and hold reset button.
  5. Continue to hold both buttons for 10 seconds ( Message centre should display message like RESETTING SERVICE followed by SERVICE RESET ).
Numbers 1 to 4 need to be done within 3 seconds otherwise it will time out.

Good luck

Definitely works as I've literally just done it on mine.

To be fair it is a bit of a faff and didn't work the first 2 or 3 times I tried.....you do need to follow it to the letter and also do need to be quick and ensure you hold for the required 10 secs

As you're holding the message centre will display "RESETTING SERVICE" which lets you know its working.

Good luck
