Default Stuck rear numberplate light!

I need to replace one of the 2 separate bulbs above the rear numberplate. (2003 X350). The book says press clips inward. They don't move at all given reasonable force. There is no sign of corrosion etc! Has anyone got any suggestions how to remove without causing damage? Maybe a sharp blow with metal end of large screwdriver to both sides? Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

They are a pain to take out the first time. I use a long flat screwdriver and start on the tab end that you push back. Work it back and forth and it will pop out of there. They are fairly robust, but the tab can break so go slow..

I recommed that you replace the OE bulbs with LED's. You can get a cheap set from Ebay, just keep in mind they are usually directional and you may have to flip the bulb around in the socket to get it working..

Cheers,

Jeff

Many thanks Broken Spanners. Did what you said and had to get quite heavy handed but it worked. Not entirely easy fitting it back. Had to be closely lined up for the 2nd tab to clip back in. Re the bulb on my model it is a tiny bulb (W5W as opposed to old festoon type). All working again!
