Supercharger pulley questions
Hey guys,
I have been trying to find some concise answers about the upper supercharger pulley upgrade (1.5lb) for the X350 XJR's. So far, I have come up with mixed reviews saying that either 1.) the supercharger pulley is great and you can feel the power or 2.) the supercharger pulley hyperaccelerates the supercharger causing excess heat buildup and a loss in performance. I am really looking into the pulley as a first step in getting more power out of the 4.2L motor but I am definitely on edge with all the mixed opinions from this forum and other forums.
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. Also, if the opinions are favorable to the upgrade, I promise to post before and after videos of the car accelerating from both an in-car dashboard view and exterior view. Too bad there is a serious lack of video on the supercharged Jaguars. Hopefully some of the attached pictures show up in this thread.
Thank you for your time!
Patrick

I haven't changed my pulley so I'm talking out of my hat but my understanding is that the overheated air charge is a problem. You get a good power increase for a couple moments but then it drops off. My non-expert advice would be to combine the pulley with a bigger intercooler.
FWIW...Among the supercharged T-Bird crowd its common to add an intercooler fan and/or double the intercooler when changing the s/c pulley. <shrug>
Cheers

another safe route would be to go with the upgrade pulley and purchase a dual nozzle methanol injection kit. This will allow for more boost while cooling both the air charge and cylinder temps. The methanal inj kits take a bit of time to fine tune but when done correct it works great! Snowperformance.net is probably the most popular manufacturer.
