Suspension mystery
Hey everyone,
New here. Just acquired a XJ6 X350 2005 and running into some challenges.
Just replaced the front struts. Car pumped up perfectly but sat a bit high on the front. Figured that I bent the level sensor brackets, pushing down the wishbones. So bent them back a little, lowering the car in the process 👍. Oops, bit too low. Bend back.. car did not rise again.
Now, the tail chasing begins; resetted the system by letting out all air and loosening the battery (shorting car +/- for a while to let it 'forget'). System totally passive, no pressure build up, no pump, no nothing. Pump functions: took relays out and jumped, but build up to 20bar, but doesn't pressure the air tank. Drove a few hundred m. Nothing. Let it sit for a while. Nothing. All struts down. No failure indication.
Eeeeh... What next? Anyone?
thanks in advance for taking the time.

If there's low pressure, the compressor will run für a minute after engine start. (It will stop then, unless you drive more than 40km/h to prevent overheating.)
There is a pressure reservoir in the trunk, which contains the pressure sensor.
In my case, there was water in that reservoir, which came out when removing the pressure sensor.
( Be carefull when there's pressure on the system !)
You should get an SDD, so you can read the pressure and the errorcodes from the cats system.
SDD also allows you to recalibrate the height.

Thanks! I have an Autel OBD reader. No codes. It doesn't support calibration, though.
Think I found a solution 🙂🙂👍. I bent the brackets to what they kinda were. Then this morning started the car. Came up but all crooked. Then i wrote the sensor positions and corresponding wheel positions down and took the car to over 50kmh. Pump started and everything came alive. Then stopping, bending, measuring, driving etc. Now, it's back to normal.
A bit redneck solution, but it will do for now.
You see all these 50-60,- SDD with OBD ripoff dongles. Does that work? Any experience there?

Genuine Mongoose cables from DrewTech, are hard to find.
But do turn up, i found one on ebay, couple years ago.
Was well used, but still in the original, matching numbers box.
Had instruction disk, plus who he purchased it from, inside the box.
New from DrewTech, they are $600, plus shipping.
If you can talk them into selling you one.
Good Luck

There are chinese mongoose clones, which work, too. Maybe they are a bit slower.
Normal OBD-readers are close to worthless, as they cannot talk with all devices in the car. (like Cats, TCM, entertainment..)
