Is there a mechanic out there that could answer this?
I have a 2008 Jaguar XJ. I am trying to apply some foam cleaner into the evaporator coil. I was told that the best way is to shoot it up through the evap drain tube. The foam cleaner comes with a 12''-15" tube that fits on the can so you can stick it up the drain tube to really get it up in there, but, on these XJs the drain tube is almost impossible to get to from what I have seen on other threads. There are other video's on YT that have different way's of doing it, but this seemed like the best way because you're trying to get the cleaner onto the coils, not just, spraying disinfectant into the vents for instance to try and cover the musty smell. Anyway, what I'm trying to find out is there another "conduit" that leads to the evaporator coil that I can apply this cleaner? I was wondering about where the cabin filter goes, does that lead to the evap coil? I thought that if I could find a direct conduit to the coil I could rig up a longer tube to feed down as close to the coil as possible and apply the cleaner that way. Any recommendations?

A simple phone call to a Jaguar dealer service department might be helpful as a service technician may be able to offer you some tips. I mean, the phone call is cheap enough.
The musty smell from the vents can also be reduced by turning off the compressor and using the system fan to dry the evaporator for a minute or two before shutting the engine off. Leaving the evaporator wet is what allows the growth of bacteria and mold.
Another idea is to remove the cabin air filter and spray disinfectant in while the blower fan is running. The fan will suck the disinfectant in over and through the the entire system. I did this on a Saab 9000 and it worked well. I think I used Lysol spray. You can use anything as long as it is a wet spray not foam. Set the climate control to AC.
