Default Transmission chirp from 2nd to 3rd

Looking for advice on an issue I have recently noticed. Between 2nd and 3rd I am beginning to hear a small chirp sound and it seems to be getting more frequent. Very concerned about this. Also the car doesn't always seem to always downshift to 1st when coming to a stop. In other words, as I apply throttle from a stop, the car will begin to move in 2nd and downshift to 1st after a few feet of movement. This all points to transmission issues to me, but I'm a rookie Your sage advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Marc

Marc there is an enormous amount of info on this issue that you would find if you do some research as you will find in motorcarman's links.

Thank you to both Motorcarman and jackra_1. I did a basic search on the forum when I first started looking into this a few days back and nothing came up. Somehow I must have done that wrong. At any rate thank you both again for the quick reply and information. This seems like a simple fix which I will undertake this weekend.
Take care,
Marc

As I prepare for changing my transmission fluid I've not located how much fluid I need to have on hand to replenish the transmission once drained. Can you tell me what my transmission capacity is? If I go by the Technical Bulletin motorcarman was kind enough to share, I drain and refill the transmission 3 times before the process is complete. The owners manual that comes with the car does not cover transmission fluid and I've not yet purchased a Service Manual for the car.
Thanks in advance,
Marc

10.53 quarts is the total capacity of the transmission including the cooler.

If you simply drain and refill you will likely only get 5-6 quarts out. So if you do that 3 times... you do the math.

If however you do a complete flush and fill, which is the best option, you probably need 11-12 quarts at most.

If you are going to do this yourself it is an involved procedure but not that difficult if you are mechanically inclined.

It has to be done at the correct temperature. That is important.

You need a new pan, which contains the filter, and it is advisable to replace the mechatronic sleeve while you are at it.
