Default transmission cooler connectors

After installing a new radiator, the cooler connector that goes into the radiator is basically without thread, stripped bare. Finding a replacement has been a challenge to say the least. I really don't want to spend another $250 on this for a new set of lines. I'm thinking that I might be able to gerry rig a barb fitting into the radiator and connect with an appropriate hose. Anyone done this?

Cheers, Mark.

EDIT:

I haven't on this particular model but if I read you right the fitting on the hose is stripped?

You may want to simply bring the line into a shop, have them cut the aluminum (or stainless steel), replace the fitting.

Sorry, I don't have a blow up diagram of the fitting and or line and I can't find any info on the PSI in the line. Different transmissions run at different pressures and given that newer cars often run 50-150 psi, and also that we use rings at the fitting, pressure is probably too high for a barb.

Yes, it's the fitting that locks the metal cooler line in place. Unfortunately the pipe and fitting are non standard size, so none of the generic stuff fits. The pipe is 1/2" OD and the fitting has a m18x1.5 thread. I'm even contemplating bypassing the radiator and installing a stand-alone transmission cooler.

Just be mindful, the purpose of running the fluid through the radiator is not only to cool the fluid, but also to warm the fluid, especially in colder regions. And since the programming is temp dependent, you might want to carefully consider this.

Thanks Box, I live in Phoenix so that may not be an issue, but I will bear that in mind.
