Default UK-US price comparison

Hi Guys

I was looking at a really, really, nice XJ6 of 2003, the aluminium car with 50k on it and absolutely immaculate condition, and service history etc for just under £9000. I am strongly tempted.

This equals $13500. Is this the sort of prices you would pay for such a car in the US? OK, the ally XJ6 was not exported to the US, you only got the V8 which costs a bit more here, but not much. You would call it a 2004 in the US as the car only arrived in the US early in that year.

Reason I like it is the 3 litre is very good on petrol, (better than my current car), and as petrol here is over £5 a gallon and rising, the money mounts up. The diesel only came out in 2005 and they still are serious money for obvious reasons as they do around 40 mpg.

Hi Fraser,

Yes, that would probably be a ballpark number for a 2004 XJ8 (X350). Medium to higher mileage. Lower mileage might get a little more.

I saw one recently - A 2004 XJ8 with only 15K miles on it for $22,500. I don't believe it sold during the time I watched it.

Best,
