Update Navigation Information
My 2006 xj8 has the original navigation DVD, which is now quite out of date. Looking online, I see DVDs for sale but they appear to be the one I already own. How can I get my nav system info updated?
There may be an update for Australia/NZ (but the date is hard to tell)
Jaguar Australia - In-car GPS Upgrades for Australia and New Zealand - powered by TomTomŽ maps (navshop.com.au)
As far as I'm concerned, the in-built navigation is great to have working, provided one accepts 1% of the time there may be new roads, and even then it (as well as standalone stuff) can recommend circuitous routes when I know my area better.
For a specific address not on the map, yeah use your cellphone google maps for free.
The best part of the XJ, is that the boot is large enough to carry a sextant...you know...for navigating by the sun
.
(I did that once, no maps no nothing had to get out of Glasgow toward London, used the sun, went up a few muddy farm tracks by mistake but never mind)
Oh, the in-built navigation is presentationally-challenged compared to modern stuff. But never mind - think Classic.
P.S. in researching this by map version, I came across someone who bought a Brand New (Toyota if I don't get thrown out), and the maps were uncurrent at brand new. They complained to whoever you complain to in these circumstances, Consumer Guarantees Act whatever, and got exactly nowhere.
