Default Vehicle Too Low

My 2004 XJ8 w/ 174k miles has "Vehicle Too Low" warning light but not ~air system fault" warning. Dealer has indicated struts need replaced and maybe compressor. If air compressor is ok, I might replace struts with Arnotts air struts -- but if air compressor is also bad, I would save money and delete the air system and go with the coil-over Arnott struts that cost <$1,400, Appreciate any thoughts/insights on how to confirm air compressor status and strut replacement options. Threads I read about coil-over's look positive.
Thanks

Check for air leaks with soapy water around the air line fittings at the top of the

front struts and in the circular 'hole' in that area.

Height sensor failure is possible but a leak more likely IMO.

Methinks sensors are Hall effect hence they don't wear like a potentiometer
