volume preset oddity
After disconnecting the battery and touching the cables together to "reset" the system several days ago, I used the nav last evening and the volume was set much lower than before. I went to the volume preset screen and the + and - buttons were grayed out and did nothing on the nav preset or on any of the other presets and the nav volume was not affected by the other volume controls.
later at home I tried changing the presets again and they were still not operative until I turned on the audio CD changer, adjusted its volume with the steering wheel volume controls, and then went back to the volume preset screen where the controls were now black and worked again. Thinking back, I had not turned on the audio since reconnecting the battery and it apparently has something to do with activating the volume presets. Wierd.
BTW, the battery cable "reset" did not restore one-touch to the right side windows and it apparently removed the one-touch function from the left rear side window. The Driver's window does still one-touch up and down.

Here's the procedure for restoring the one touch function to your windows. I just performed it on my 2004 x350. The exerpt is taken from jaghelp.com....
So your automatic feature doesn't work on your Jaguar anymore? It's ok, nothing's broken. This usually happens because somebody disconnected the battery and the settings for the windows were lost. In other words, the car needs to re-learn where the limits for the windows are. This is very simple to do.
Your switch has 5 positions. We'll call them:
"-2" which is the switch all the way down for automatic down
"-1" which is the switch slightly down for bringing the window down manually
"0" which is the switch just sitting on its normal position
"1" which is the switch slightly up for bringing the window up manually
"2" which is the switch all the way up for automatic up
The reset procedure is very simple:
Shut the radio off and other source of noises, you are going to be looking for a little "click"
Hold the switch of the window you wish to re-teach the limits in position "-1". Even after the window is all the way down, keep holding it and listen for a little click. When you hear it go to the next step.
Hold the switch on position "1". Again, even after the window is all the way up keep holding it and listen for a "click".
That is it! Simple enough huh?! Repeat for all windows and you are all set!

One question - I tried this proceedure using the driver's controls; does it need to be done from the individual windows controls or should it work from the driver's controls?

I was able to set both of the driver side windows to one-touch from the driver’s door window controls (I finally heard the little clicks) but not the passenger side windows. The passenger windows will one-touch from their individual door controls, but not from the driver’s controls. Another idiosyncracy? Or a deficiency in my technique? Aren't these cars interesting! Oh yes, and I verified that you can't change any of the volume presets in the vehicle setup unless one of the audio sources is turned on. Interesting.
