I just wish I did not have to remember to press another button when I parked. Thanks again.
There is a setting in the VEHICLE SETTINGS for 2 stage unlocking ON or OFF.Havent tried it but it might enable 1 Stage locking??

My 04 XJ8 has this feature. It can be programmed to to do this.

I can open my driver door without all the doors unlocking. When using the remote it will unlock the driver door with one press of the keyfob and all the doors with 2 presses.

My biggest grip is with the audio. No decent way to connect an i-pod. I have had nothing but problems with the Audio Connectivity Module in my 2008 XJ8L

higeorge, what I was trying to say is that when I am in the car, I cannot unlock only the drivers door and exit. All doors unlock when the drivers door is opened.

On mine, it depends on how I unlocked the car with the remote. If I unlocked the driver door only with the remote, when I open the driver door to exit, the other doors stay locked. If I unlocked all the doors with the remote, then when I open the driver door, all doors unlock.

Ahhh, now I understand. That is good information that I will give a try. I just don't like getting out of the car for moment in a situation that I am concerned of an unwanted passenger hopping in.

thanks

Have you checked the owner's manual? I thought you can turn off the auto locking feature.

I will trade you my smaller 04 X Type for your XJ..

Problem solved on both ends..

Pretty frivolous, but I wouldn't mind a tire pressure monitoring system. The rest of the car certainly makes up for it though.

I guess I'm a bit off from most in this thread. I love the styling, aluminum body and ride. The gizmos actually are a bit worrisom. I use the trunk every day (twice) and every time I close it, I wonder how much more complicated they need to make a rear deck latch. Everything is electronic and seems to be digitally controlled. That means a lot more sensors, solenoids, servos and motors to burn out. I bet 400lbs of the car is nothing but "luxury" items that are going to tally most of the repair costs in the distant future.

The air suspension and the way it adjust all the time (under rainy condition it could even be a problem),the fluctuation of height, the car movments.
some will say get teh sport suspension version,I got a xjr 30000 miles and it was about the same as the reg xj8,it seems like the air suspension system become loose after 40000 miles with more heights fluctuation ,no leaks ,just loose.

I red some people thinking of getting some winter tires for their xj8 or xjr,i will say do not hesitate 2 sec,go ahead and buy them.

If the seats are too small for you, could I politely say that you are too heavy and need to lose a bit of weight.
