Hopefully someone can educate me a bit today...... spent some time under my xj8 and found 2 unusual items. Rf amplifier filter. Dangling at rear of transmission. Where does it belong?
And this: Notice capped hose behind steering rack?
Did Jaguar thoughtfully provide a convenient power steering fluid drain or has some prior "mechanic" butchered away a cooler and stuck a bolt in the hose as a plug? This is either the nicest service provision I've ever seen or evidence worthy of incarcerating the person who implemented it.
That suppressor was originally fitted to the outside of the transmission I believe.
I believe i found the screw on the topside of the pan mounting flange where it was originally mounted. Of course it's galvanically welded itself and is never coming out. I zip-tied the unit back to its own harness as far from the hot exhaust and trans case as I could. Has to be better than banging around on the trans mount.....
