I asked before and I literally forgot. Where is the Computer in this car? After an attempt at remote tuning I need to send the computer out to get reflashed..Only thing is. Where is it? For some reason I recall behind glovebox but I just couldn't find the post

+1 on joesoap's description. Our LHD '04 requires the same 5-point Torx security bit with a hole in the center to accommodate a central pin in the screw that secures the electrical connector to the ECM. I can't recall if the same type screw is used to secure the ECM to the firewall/bulkhead, but as joesoap stated, the fasteners are all on the engine bay side under the pollen filter housing.

One other thought. The manual states that you must remove the windshield wipers and cowl before removing the pollen filter housing, but I was able to just remove the cowl fasteners at the pollen filter end and gently bend it up so I could get the filter housing out. It all goes together in a somewhat complicated manner so pay attention and take some photos as you go.

Cheers,

Don

yep did the same on mine manouvered the cowl out of the way and
+1 on taking pics.
more time consuming and contortional at glove box end, than technically difficult.

Why must it be removed to be flashed? Are there places that can change tuning of the car directly? The ecm is also tired to the VIN by programing.

I have a spare xjr ECM should you wish to have a spare to swap tunes. I had the thought to have two with different tunes but decided it was too much trouble to change over.
PM me if interested in second ecm

Well I purchased an Autorotor from AVOS but last year I purchased a tune and pulley from Eurocharge. They thought they could program it remotely and sent me the equipment but it wouldn't work. So they need me to send in the computer to get it flashed. I figured Id give it a try before I put the twin screw on and get another tune. Just to see what it does. Its taken me this long to have the time to do it.

I was thinking of getting another computer but was unsure if it would work. Unsure if the VIN or odometer etc is tied in

Ok, the vin and security systems and module versions are all embedded in the ecm. The odometer is in the console.
