Cant keep away from them

 

I'm 38, & just recently bought my 07' XJ8-L back in July. I'd been wanting 1 for yrs! The reason I say I'm "Old @heart" is because when I was in the 11 grade(summer before school started) I bought myself a Porsche 911. I've been a musician all my life pretty much, so going into the 8th grade, I was playing organ @church making "a pretty nice amount" for a 13yr old. So by the time I turned 16, I was pretty good in terms of "paperwork" (which is what I call $$$) haha

Anyways, when I was 20, I bought an Infiniti J30t. I always liked the "other" cars that most people didn't buy. (I actually STILL have that car) Between then and now, I've purchased many cars, but every since back then, when I got the Infiniti, I would always say "It looks like a Jag" (to me) so I've wanted 1 for quite some time. Over the last few yrs, I was saving to buy a Range Rover Sport, being I had given a Navigator I had to my dad because that's what wanted for a while; so I needed (ok, just wanted) a new SUV & I knew I wanted a RRS, BUT, the whole time, I was sayin, "I want an XJ8-L or VDP".

In 2012, I bought a 2009 RRS with low miles, color I wanted, etc. So then it was time to save for the Jag. & now I'm proud to be a part of this forum as a Jag owner! Not to mention, it feels great having the 2 vehicles I wanted with NO car notes & the Titles! The only problem I have now is,,,,,, I don't know what I want to upgrade 1st. A new Full size Range Rover (probably 2013) or a new XJ-L. Either way, I'd keep the XJ8 X350 no matter what!..

Either you love them or hate them. As for me, I'm on my 2nd Jag-06 Super 8 in addition to buying my daughter an X Type. That makes 3!

The classy lines, leather and wood. Its so sexy. The Jag is the real thing and with a supercharger.

I don't know if I can say this about the new style Jags except for the XKs.

I'm 27, and have owned 4 jags, (3 for driving and one for parts) its not always how much you spend, but more where you find one. if you look hard enough you can find one, or sometimes several in good condition, or in good enough condition for what you need. the one i got for spare parts I only paid $350 for over $20000 worth of parts; (whole engine with complete no issues running fuel system(except for the spark plugs all factory installed parts), brand new transmission, rebuilt front suspension with new steering system (pump, lines and rack), completely "BRAND NEW" interior (seats, upholstery, dash board) new exhaust system, new starter with spare, and new alternator. the old guy had been rebuilding it with his son between 94 and 2000 but decided to sell it when his son lost interest after going to college.

 

When I came out of our local supermarket, a really swish looking XF had parked right behind my car, (white with black leather), So it really was old and new together, at least for the styles. I have to confess I did like the look of that XF, so much so that I said to myself, "Fraser, maybe some day". Then it was loading the groceries and off we drove.

 

I am 60 and just bought my first Jag. Owned high end Buicks and Lincoln LS before this one. It is all about the timing in your life. Career to be established and then kids college tuition. I just said it is time for this #1 on the bucket list to be crossed off. ( It was the only thing on the list because all the other stuff I am too old to do). Love my Kitty.

 

I'm 64, but I do have an excuse in that my current car is my fourth Jag. I started down the Jaguar path when I was 45 and there have been only brief moments when I was between Jaguars. This my first non-blue Jaguar (it's Quartz) but not due to a lack of trying. I did find some candidates but they were too far away to pick up. My wife has difficulty getting around so I was limited to the immediate DC area.

 

I'm 24 and have had Jaguars since 18. X300 Xj6, Stype 3.0, Stype 4.0, xk8, x350 xjr (was just totaled) and now I found a 2008 xjr with 44k on it that I will likely purchase as I'm not happy with mercedes and bmws that are in the $30k range
If I do get it...will be nice to have the option of picking apart my totaled 04 xjr with 42k on it for parts if needed! If I don't fix her damage of course
So the 08 xjr will be my 6th and I'm not even 25 yet

I'm 23 and I own an XJ8. I drove the lousiest hunks of junk for years, saving and working, and then the day came where I had to pull over on the side of the road and call my agent to make sure my life insurance was paid up to date because I felt like I could crash and die at any moment (Had no airbags, no power steering, blown out suspension, highway driving, etc.)

That was the day I decided to finally go and get myself something better. All of my friends were buying Civics and other little 4-banger cars, but I'd never really been fond of anything like that, and then I found my Jag; the moment I laid eyes on it I knew I had to have it, and it was within my price range.

I don't think I will ever regret my decision, and in an odd way that car sorta' saved my life by getting me out of my deathtrap-mobile.

I'm 35 & I'm on my second jaguar the first was a 01' VDP and now it's the 05 XKR coupe. Jaguar are typically the car for the really rich that didn't want a Bentley or Rolls. Lexus, Benz etc are nice very nice but don't have the flavor of jaguar imo... now the "new" Jag sedans are being watered down a bit in the styling. But I'm planning on owning one as long as the quality is good for me.

 

I did the same thing. I've been buying Jags since about 40 (mid 50's now) and have both an XJ and XK. When my daughter was 17 we agreed to get her a car and I found a used X-type with low miles at a good price and I said "How about that" and she said "ehhh...it's an old persons car" and instead found a Ford Escape. She's had it for 3 years and when she was last home from school last month said "Dad, can I get a Jag now?" She's maturing!

 

Well this thread I've just revived is 12 years old, so everyone who stated their age is now around a decade older! OMG!

I've wanted an XJ ever since I was a teenager. Life didn't exactly go according to plan and it took a while to buy one (X308 VDP), but now I'm onto my second XJ (X350 SV8) and still love the super long Jags and will probably do for an x351 in the future.

I would have another XJ tomorrow but the dealer service dept is 140 miles round trip away and yes I'm another decade older than when this thread started. OMG That's 83.

 

In my 70's with two XJ8's, best used car buy out there
NEVER believed i would ever own a Jaguar, let alone two.
Their low resale prices, were their best asset, for my purchases
After cutting my teeth on my first motorcycle, a 750 Triumph Tiger.
Swore off of the British vehicles forever, Lucas Electronics.
The Prince Of Darkness, electronics less than reliable, & installed in everything.
Ford purchased it replaced the electronics made them reliable.
