Default Windscreen wipers

Does anyone know how to 'stall' the windscreen wipers in mid stroke in order to work on (replace) the wiper blades? I seem to remember a post about a way to accomplish this with the Infotainment controls on the Base (two small screens) system, but I have the Nav System single screen.

Thanks

You should be able to replace them in their parked position. They pull up just enough to give you access.

Any refills available other than the dealer? None at the auto stores, or at the Lincoln dealer looked like they would fit.

- Turn off ignition with wipers midstroke

- Rain X replacement wipers work well

Wont work on my 04 XJ8, wipers go to the rest position, then stop. Found out why the replacement refills, for my wipers was such an issue for me, not stockers. Will be able to find refills now.

If you are replacing the wipers you can get the inserts to replace them or you can upgrade to more modern one piece wipers like these.

BOSCH 3397007654 / AR608S Set of AEROTWIN RETROFIT Windscreen Flat Wiper Blades

I got them and they are a plug and play item. Work great and a perfect fit. They are not available from any US or Canadian suppliers but I got these from the UK and took about a month for delivery but well worth the wait. Would recommend them highly. Especially in the winter as they are less prone to icing up like the 1950's technology version that came standard on our cars.

Thanks, Hisport, but like Wingrider says, the BCM on my car keeps the wipers powered up until they return to the 'rest' position. I was able to get the blade assys off without damaging the paint on the lip of the hood (bonnet), and replace the rubber wipers with rubbers from another brand of wiper. A bit of a pain, that's all.

Off to the Georgian Bay British Car Club "Brits in the Village" get-together tomorrow, and the weather looks perfect!

Thanks all

I was a bit baffled by this on my 2007 X350.
I bought some Bosch wipers from Euro Car Parts with the washer jets fitted.

The jag wiper arms do lift up enough to press the clip on the wiper itself and remove the old blade - once you have popped the pipe off of course, and the new ones just slide into place.
No need to stop them mid stroke or to remove the arm completely as I have seen some people suggest!!
