Googling and searching threads has got me tired so if anyone could help.
Purchased 2005 vdp and problem with windshield washer pump, unable to hear it run listening to the area around the fill cap.
Checked fuse and all ok. The filler tube just dissapears into the, seems like the frame and reservoir is out of site.
Can anyone explain the procedure for making it appear. I need to fault find and would help to know where it is and how to get to it.
Many thanks for any help.
Dave...

Hi Dave,
is the filler cap for the windshiled washer placed like in the picture (left lower corner)? I ask because Jaguer changed the location of the windshield washer reservoir during the production, but I seem to remeber that it was after 2005...

If yes, then you need to remove the right front wheel and the wheel arch liner to access the washer pump(s). If you have headlight washers, there will be two pumps. The smaller one is the one for the windshield washer.

If the filler cap is on the driver's side in front of the windshield, then I suppose that you need to remove the leftfront wheel and the wheelarch liner to access the pump(s),

When you check the pump(s), also make sure that the pins of the electrical connectors make proper contact. I had the issue with the connector for the headlight washer pump. After checking fuses, the wiring loom (which is a major hassle) and what not I found out that the pins in the connector where not making proper contact.

Best regards,

Thomas

I had an issue with mine awhile back. No washer and could not hear the pump. My 06 had the filler cap on the driver side. I removed the wheel and inner liner to reveal the tank and pump. The tank is tucked into the fender and the pump is on the lower portion of the tank. All that was wrong was a few wires had broke from the pump. I assume the hot weather from being a southern car had it's hand in this. Once I rewired the connections to the pump all has been well and working as it should. Before purchasing a pump I would take a look and see if it is as simple as that.

Thanks to both, sounds like a good place to start. just replaced compressor on drivers side (port) and the fender cover came of fairly easy so will be looking under the passenger side (starboard) for pumps.
Many thanks....

Just a quick question, seems the pump is on the right side behind the wheel well and due to weather and lack of space it going to have to be a quick job and have been trying to get some snap shots of the pump and area to get an idea of what I'm up against.
Have been looking everywhere but I can't quite find anything.
Any suggestions please. Many thanks.

Hi Estam,
I have searched the pictures that I have taken during the works done on the car, and the only one of the windscreen washer reservoir is the following:

It was taken wit the bumper cover off and you can just see part of the headlights washer pump, but I remember that accessibility is quite good with the wheel and wheelarch liner removed. Both pumps are on the rear of the reservoir towards the wheel.

On the front of the reservoir you only have the electric connector for the fill sensor, as you can see on the following picture:

Sorry, but currently I do not have better ones. I hope that they help at least a little bit.

Good luck,

Thomas

Mine is a 06 Vanden Plas so the tank is located inside the drivers fender behind the wheel well cover. Attached image shows the pump and connector circled in red.

Close up after the connector was removed.

My problem was just a couple of broke wires. Pump was fine and once I repaired, all worked fine.

Hope this helps.

I seem to remember that it is not a difference between aspirated and supercharged engines, but that Jaguar changed the position of the tank sometime in 2005.
My car is was built in 2003 (MY2004), and according to your signature your car is from 2006, which would fit with this information.

My issues were: both pumps gone, and additionally I had to replace the pins of the connector for the headlight washer pump because they were no good anymore

Best regards,
Thomas

If you going to order new windshield washer pump, I strongly recommend to order rubber grommet/filter:
Amazon Amazon
In my case this grommet/filter did not come with pump.
As well, keep in mind electrical connection to pump can be different from OEM. I spend more money to get OEM pump; that way I did not have to mess with replacing connector on wire harness.
Good luck,

Good advice. I, too, had the problem with connectors and the rubber grommet.
The aftermarket pump that I had ordered had different connectors but had the grommet, the original pump I then ordered to avoid changing the connector had the correct connections, but the grommet was missing...

Hi, just curious how you fixed it. Is there a suitable removal tool for the small pins?

Yes, there are kits to de-pin the different connectors, for example like this:

Sorry for all of you who do not understand German...

You can also get a cheap but useful set like
this one on Amazon this one on Amazon
The key slides into the connector releasing the pin and wire from connector. The amazon listing has a
video showing how the tool works video showing how the tool works

Thanks guys, I already knew that there is such a thing. I always have a hard time with it, because there are many different connectors/pins and a wide range of release tools. But I'll get myself an assortment and hope that I rarely need it.

All great information, my 05 vdp filler is on the right side and if it's under the reservoir will be forward of the wheel. Wondering if the connectors are the same style? It has headlight washer also and also doesn't work. Would it be unusual for both pumps to be defective or more like a blockage?

In my case, both pumps were defective and needed replacement (I had tested them outside of the car), so I would not discount it. Plus, as stated above I my car had suffered the defective connector shown above.
As you have the reservoir on the right hand side of the car, you should have the same connectors as my car has. The white one pictured above is the one for the headlamp washer pump. If I remember correctly, the windscreen washer pump has a different connector.
I should still have the old pumps, I can have a look the next days and take pictures of them.

Thanks Thomas-S, Anything would be helpful to get an idea what I'm getting into.
Suggested getting OEM pumps, anyone have any idea of a good supplier other than Jag?

I will try to take pictures of the old pumps this evening.

Maybe this can already help with the setup of the system:

Unfortunately I cannot help with an alternative supplier in the US.

Dear Estam,

my sincerest apologies for not coming back to with the pictures I promised. All hell broke loose after that last post and I was not able to take care of forum matters until recently.

Have you managed to solve your issue, or do you still need more information?

Best regards,

Thomas

Thanks.
