Default Windshield Wipers Park Incorrectly

I have a '08 XJ Vanden Plas and on the auto setting, the wipers park in the middle of the windshield. If it rains hard enough, they reactivate for a couple rotations and freeze again. The same happens on the intermittent setting. On the continuous setting (both mid and fastest speed), this isn't an issue but is quite annoying when there is a light drizzle as they also stop when activated manually. Any suggestions as to how to fix this issue?

Electrical issues can have several different causes and therefor several different fixes. When my wipers were acting strangely, tightening the main chassis grounds behind the headlights did the trick (Moisture in the air exasperates the problem). But remember, the bolts and nuts are aluminum (fragile) so tighten them like spark plugs, not head bolts. Also, look for corrosion around the bolts/nuts. Mine were clean, just needed to snugged down.

I replaced the battery and TPS first but neither of those things helped.

Good luck! Gene

This also happened to my 07 XJL early on. After several trips to the dealer, they replaced the wiper motor and it has not occurred since.

I also have the WSW stopping problem. But I can not find anything like a ground point on my 2008 XJR.

Could someone give me a pointer? Do I need to remove the shield above the headlights?
