Mine: 2008 XJ8L - I turn on my wipers for continuous swipes and the first few, 2 - 4, swipes work fine. On the next swipe, the wipers stop half way. Pulling the lever as you would for a single swipe continues the swipe and returns the wiper to the start position. Any ideas as to what's going on and how to fix it?

It could be several things:
- wiper shifter
- FEM
- grounding points
- park switch inside the wiper motor
Unfortunately, it is most likely the last reason. Getting out the motor is PiA, You need to dismantle the cowl cover, brake booster, disassemble the motor. Finally, the most annoying thing: the starlock protection inside the motor cover. This is detailed written somwhere on this forum, pretty common glitch.

 

Swapping out the motor with a used one.
Is the least expensive option.
So far mine is working out fine.
Gives you plenty of time to repair the old one.
Did mine without fooling with the master cylinder
