wires ?
Hi fingers,
Your location doesn't help me know which continent you're on so I don't know whether n/s for you is the RH or LH side, but with a little research in the Electrical Guide you should be able to identify those connectors by the number of wires and the colors of the wires. You can download the 2003.5 X350 Electrical Guide here:

More often than not, unused electrical connectors are for optional equipment not installed on the vehicle.
Cheers,
Don

I think it's Lincoln, UK. The air box is on his N/S, so right hand drive.
I concur about the cabling being there for connections on that side to accessories not fitted to his vehicle, like headlight washers etc.
Oh, and to the amount of rust on that nut....

I sometimes miss the cool, miserable days we have in the UK (I lived in Dover, Kent for years! after retiring from the british army of 25 years).
