Hi,
Does anyone know the exact piece by piece layout of the XJ between the end of the crankshaft and the input shaft to the auto' box? Specifically what attaches the end of the crankshaft to the torque converter and what connects the torque converter to the input of the planetary gearset? Anything you can tell me will bve much appreciated!

Not sure what you are asking exactly, but the torque convertor is bolted to the flexplate on back of the engine.
The torque convertor slides onto the input shaft of trans. The is the only physical connection between engine and transmission.
