Default X350 interior door handle.

My X350 drivers interior door handle clicked when I pulled it open the other day, now it doesn;t completely return,
it just just flops about for the final 10-15 degrees. Any ideas, I have just purchased an interior trim removal kit.

Might be that the spring that has the task to make the handle return to the original position has broken. I assume that you will need a new handle.

BTW, to remove the door trim you do not need the interior trim removal kit, normal tools are sufficient.

Best regards,

Thomas

Hi pj3426,
My car had exactly the same problem when I got it. The spring is a torsion one around the interior handle pivot. I found a similar sized spring (about 10 mm diameter) in my scrap bin. I put the two pieces of broken spring together and worked out the angles of the ends. I used a pair of strong pliers to shape my scrap spring into a roughly similar shape. It has lasted six years so far. I don't think you can buy the spring separately. I also made one for a local forum member who had the same problem.
