Default X350 XJR Supercharger Pulley Installation

I’m planning on installing my newly acquired Caldoofy intake and a 6% (1.5 lb) supercharger pulley (no snout modification) on my 2004 XJR.

My questions for those that have done this revolve around what I will need to remove prior to pulling/installing the supercharger pulley. I already own one of the ZZP/Intense Supercharger pulley tools and have experience with supercharger pulley installations on other vehicles.

Will I need to drain and remove the coolant from the overflow tank in order to make room for the job or can the tank be moved off to the side? Are there any other obstacles that need to be taken into consideration? I’d like to avoid removing anything I don’t have to.

The first pulley I originally upgraded to was a 6%, I am not sure i recall 100%, but I think i had to remove the tank, but not the thermostat housing/branch. It wasn't a bad job at all especially considering pulley fits without the snout mod. And you can use the same supercharger belt.

Thanks to those who replied. By “tank” do who mean the radiator? When starting this thread I obviously hadn’t been under the hood in a while so I apologize. By the looks of things I’ll need to remove the thermostat housing and piping at the very least. Any additional guidance would be appreciated.

I was referring to the coolant overflow tank. Yes, the removal of the thermostat housing would make it easier to work on. And I think I just used a small 3 prong puller to get the stock pulley off. I remember it being real tight to get out.

Had mine done last year, mechanic didn't have correct puller and had to cut the old pulley off, he had to remove the coolant reservoir to get the new pulley on. He said it was the last time he wanted to do that job.

Thank you. Has anyone attempted the job themselves on an x350/x358 XJR with a puller designed specifically for these Eaton blowers ie. ZZP; Intense; Pulley Boys? The three-prong pullers are generic shop pullers and I definitely will not be cutting the stock pulley off under any circumstances.

I’m almost positive that the plates/shaft used with these application-specific tools will necessitate removal of both the coolant tank as well as the thermostat housing but would prefer not to have to remove either the radiator or engine mounts (to tilt the engine backwards) if at all possible.

Any input from anyone who has performed this job with one of the purpose-designed Eaton pulley pullers (on an X350/x358 XJR) would be greatly appreciated and I will gladly post photos and a guide for future use when I get around to doing the job myself.

Thanks in advance.
