Hi all,
While perusing my copy of the X358 2008 brochure, I noticed something on page 17.
Here is the full pic: This is apparently an XJR
Looking at the instrument panel, and the tachometer in particular, something didn't seem right.
Yes, that tachometer doesn't seem right for an XJR, does it. And the SUPERCHARGED logo should really be SUPERCHARGED.
For comparison, here's my tacho.
So it looks like they didn't have an XJR to photograph, so they put an XJR gear lever on a diesel and photoshopped (poorly) the supercharged legend. Pity about the tachometer graduations. 'Nobody will notice' they said....
Also in the brochure is the same car photographed twice, once flipped left to right. Page 16 shows license plate IO8AHO. but page 21 shows a car in the same color with plate OHA8OI.
Anyway it's all good fun finding little things like that while looking at all the beautiful cars.
The number plate is OHA8OI because the NEW AMBASSADOR hotel is in the background. Much more important, 888VVV on P14 looks uncannily like a car starting VVV on P13, and yet both appear to be correct by other clues. I shall keep an eye out for them.
Well spotted haha, many years ago in the UK car manufacturers started putting number plates on the cars for photographs that could be "read" from both directions so that they could flip pictures to show either the car as right hand drive or making it appear to be left hand drive when flipped, when you think about it , it must save a large amount of costs as if you lived in Germany then you would like to see left hand drive cars in the brochures for instance.
Numerous other companies did the same thing.
