My wife is supposed to pick me up in MTL this afternoon, it is very cold this morning so she started the car and it went in restricted performance, the heater fan is not turning on and the heated seats are not working anymore.

it is an 04 XJ8 , can anyone please advise on what can cause these issues?

I would try checking the earth grounds, and especially those in the boot (trunk).

 

It may be load shedding due to battery or charging condition.

 

Discharged battery and cold

 

After I got home,

I found out the following:

1- the oil fill tube was lose which cause a p0171 and the restricted performance.

2- I guess it was so cold that she couldn’t feel that the seat was heating because when I got home it was 38 degrees and it was ok.

3- the heater fan is not working and it looks like it’s my only problem. After reading thru the threads , I pretty sure that it is the control module ( resistor) .

my next step is to find the easiest way to replace it.
