Default XJ8 Temperature

Has there already been a thread on the proper running temperature? My temperature is always the same. When I get home the car is hot. He garage gets pretty warm from the car. I have no warning lights either.

Normal?

You won't get a 'true' reading without a scanner capable of monitoring the temperature sensors thru the TCM or ECM, the gauge is not accurate, and will often just jump from dead center when it overheats. I don't rely on it for much else.

My AutoEngenuity software monitors in real time, many temperature sensors (air, water, oil, transmission fluid, ect) its great for detailed repairs. I could get you a temp from my car, if that makes and difference to you.

If your temperature gauge remains around the mid point, you're NOT getting any warning lights or messages and you have verified your coolant level is at full capacity, my inclination would be to not worry about it.

Unless that is, that this is a newly occurring phenomenon. In that case I'd get it checked out.

FWIW, my 2004 XJ also noticeably warms up my garage after parking it but then so does my wife's SL550 so I believe your XJ is probably running at it's designed temperature.

The termperature is right in the center and always has been. It's just in the garage -the garage gets very hot when I park the car there. It is just different and I wanted to see if anyone else had the same thing happening and it is normal.

It is different than my other cars-lexus, Toyota, Honda, and a van. Yes to warmer but this is hotter. It has been the same for 3 months.

Just seeing if you all are experiencing the same thing. Maybe it's the V8. Thanks for your comments.

William,

Sounds identical to my 05 XJR in all respects inclusive of temp setting and guarage heat up. Don't worry, be happy.

I have found the same to be true on my 2007. Heats up the garage, front top grill is hot to the touch. Asked dealer about it and they claim it is normal. Another XJ came in for service at the same time and his was as warm (hot) as mine. My guage is always at the mid level.
