Default XJ8 Trunk Release Question

Good Day Gents,

I used the forum a lot recently and it was a great help in selecting my 2008 XJ8 L. The car is just awesome. Now that I am in possession I am losing my cherry and making my first post...

Almost everything on this auto seems well thought out...almost. What I find peculiar is the trunk release. When I click it the trunk just unlocks. Is that all it is supposed to do or is something wrong with the hydraulics? I would love for it to unlock and open up too. Thanks for any help

I would lubricate the hinges and the trunk lock. Might just be a bit sticky?

Just unlatches the trunk like the key fob does, does not lift up the trunk lid more than an inch or so.

Unfortunately jaguar did not add the automatic lift to the trunk lid until it designed the X351 model so our X350 does not have this functionality.
