XJR ECM issues

i am starting to suspect the ECM in my 05 XJR: i tried SDD to lower the front but it always freezes in Data Collection stage @ 98% then it aborts the session the ECM throws P1646 without illuminating CEL (is that normal?) according to jaguar, when an XJR exhibits pinging (like mine) it might need an ECM reconfiguration anyone had any of these issues before?
