Yes, be sure to take the EGR Valve out with the Throttle Body! Be really careful with the electrical connector to the MAP Sensor. If yours is like mine, you push the tab at the end by the wires; don't break the tab! I took the top plastic bulkhead out. I have removed the SC in order to replace all of the coolant hoses since many of them were showing deterioration and 2 have burst (car is 20 years old).
If you search the X-350 & 358 Forum, you will find numerous threads.
If I can do this, anyone can. If you read my threads, you will see that I mistook 2 other parts for the throttle body before I actually got to the throttle body! Granted, I'm doing a LOT more than just replacing the TB - In addition to replacing every hose that I can, I've also done valve cover gaskets, water pump, fixed a broken connector, removed a couple of broken bolts, changed SC oil, etc. I am into my 4th month working very slowly. But I am also 76 & have quite a few other activities with friends & family. I am just starting to put her back together again. I have acquired all of the seals & gaskets and am awaiting the arrival of a plethora of hoses.
But, I digress.
My car is a 2004 XJR VIN Range: G00442 - G45703; U.S.--LH Drive. I have found it more difficult when I have followed thread that aren't specific to my car.
I have to rush off because I am helping with a memorial service for a dear friend. I encourage you to search the x-350 Forum for throttle body replacement. I will send a link to some of the threads that have been useful to me tomorrow.
Wow, quick work! I was just getting ready to send you a photo & a few links, but you don't need them. I am hopeful that someone will jump in to help because I have never worked on a TB.
Best, Steve S.
Just following up here because I hate it when threads are left unfinished.
In summary, anyone can do this repair.
1) remove the air intake pipework.
2) remove the coolant lines going to the TB.
3) undo the 4 bolts holding TB to block.
4) remove old gasket and clean surfaces.
5) fit new gasket and TB.
6) torque correctly.
