Question 1995-97 x300

New to the forum - I'm looking at/for low mileage 95-97 XJ6's, preferably VDP. Want to keep this as a collector, less than 1500 miles a year driving going forward.

So - what to watch out for mechanically? Key maintenance at the 50 to 60 K mile point? Thanks!

Don't go 98 - 99 with the newly developed V8 and bad transmission pairing .

Welcome Jeff.

Your most difficult task with owning an excellent condition, low mileage XJ6 Vanden Plas will be finding one to own! You don't have any major worries as far as inherent flaws or known serious failure conditions. In general, the XJ6 was very well designed and put together.

That's not to say it is not without its problems, especially at this age. There will be annoyances and necessary repairs. You can tell by the amount of activity in this section! But the car can last a long, long time, given the availability of internet parts supply and factory service information, the relative ease by which a reasonably capable and motivated owner can work on the car, and of course, this forum.

I like to say (and I think many would concur) that the X300 is one of the "easiest" Jaguars models to own.
