Default 1995 Vanden Plas trunk release actuator

First off, hello everyone, I am a new Jag owner and a new forum member.
My dad just got an XJR and gave me his 1995 VDP. I am having a blast driving this car, I have always been a huge Jag fan. I have been detailing the car and working out the little fixes for a few weeks now. Most puzzling is the trunk release. Fortunately, I can open the trunk with the key. The issue is the actuator does not function, from the button or the fob. I have confirmed that there isn't any current going to the button or actuator. I discovered the #8 fuse in the trunk which serves this area, is hot at both terminals. Is this correct, or is this the source of the trouble? Thanks for any suggestions. This is a cool site!

I know that the 1995 had a TSB on the button on the trunk but I think it was a stuck open condition. I am attaching a link to wiring diagrams for that car and I hope it helps to track the problem down. Please let us know what you do find.

Thanks for the replies guys. I checked and there aren't any broken or damaged wires on the hinge area. The wiring diagram is helpful. Still bothersome is that both pins where the #8 fuse go, are hot. I'll keep hunting...

Thanks again for the info. After having the fuse out for a while, the indicator would glow less and less in the ground pin. Then, after replacing fuse, actuator worked (!), only from pressing fob three times. The actuator sounded really tired though, is this normal. Now it is back to not working. Gus, how can I check the relay? Iv'e found it, its a Ford part.

Testing is a bit awkward, I would recommend replacing it if you think it is a problem. Keep the old on until you are satisfied that it was a problem then trash it.
