Default 1996 Dim Headlight Problem

I recently purchased a 96 xj-6 and the right headlight is very dim while the left headlight is normally bright. Can anyone help me with what might cause one light to be markedly dim? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I recently purchased a 1997 XJ 6 and had the same issue that was rectified today. An incorrect bulb was replaced as well as it was discovered that the order of the headlights had been confused, i.e. the hight beam light was where the low beam was and vice versa. Lights are working just fine now.

In my experience (limited) a dim light is usually down to a bad earth/ground, providing of course that the above has been checked.

Moving you over to the X300 section, ie newer XJ6's, these have little in common with the early cars.
