1996 XJ6 Instrument Cluster Swap
I recently changed my instrument cluster out with one purchased from a salvage yard because the odometer section of my instrument cluster had sections of the numbers that didn't light up properly. My car has 241,000 miles on it. Although I like the 45,000 odometer reading that is on the instrument cluster I changed over to
, I was wondering??? How do I get this cluster to read the correct mileage that is on my vehicle?
I'll be interested to know if that is possible too.
As a funny aside, 2000-ish vintage Volvos had their mileage (and other stats) stored in memory that was resident in the rear view mirror if you can believe it.

Wolfman,
there is a part (JLM1932) which is within the instrument pack, and which is the numerical display. Whilst I would stress that I am not 100% certain, I do not believe that this where the actual mileage is stored, so if you were to fit a working JLM1932 (perhaps from your replacement instrument pack?) to your original instrument pack, I think your correct mileage would be displayed.
It would seem that it is still possible to buy the part too.
